Cogmed
Working Memory Training
Training your mind’s muscle
What is Cogmed?
Cogmed is an evidence-based online training program developed by leading cognitive neuroscientists. It is specifically designed to target and enhance working memory through engaging and interactive exercises.
Working memory is the ability to hold and manipulate information in our minds for a short span of time. We use it to plan what to do next, to solve problems, to learn, and to understand long texts (by remembering the beginning of a sentence as you reach the end of it). It is vital for focussing on tasks, following instructions, keeping out distractions, learning and complex thinking.
A vast body of neuroscientific research has shown that our working memory capacity is not fixed and can be expanded through training. Improved working memory can increase your ability to sustain attention, focus on difficult tasks, and solve complex problems. Being able to focus our attention is imperative in order for us to succeed at school, work and daily life.
This training is suitable for children, adolescents, and adults who are struggling with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), attention deficits, learning difficulties, memory deterioration, stroke and brain injuries.
How does Cogmed work?
Cogmed is an online program that typically comprises of 25 to 40 training sessions, each 25 to 50 minutes long depending on the individual’s profile. This intensive program is done from home under the guidance of a professional Cogmed coach who will guide you and your child/kin through the training. Your child/kin will be supported throughout the challenging training and receive feedback on his/her progress, to ensure motivation and adherence to the program. Even after the training is completed, personalized post-training follow up is provided to evaluate results, and support the integration of effects into daily life.
